Jun 7, 2024

A Rockland County high school student was recognized for her invention that is helping in the environmental world.

Rep. Mike Lawler recognized Madeline Abrams, a junior at Green Meadow Waldorf School, for her invention that turns discarded plastic bottles into a rainwater capture system for gardens and landscapes.
Abrams says her invention is highly adaptable for different environments by using recycled products.

"If you have a larger structure, you can add bottles to the sides and bottom to make it the length and height you need. This is also incredible because it uses existing surface area, allowing you to maximize the amount of space from which you can take water from," she explained.
Abrams has presented her invention to communities across the country and internationally through rotary clubs in Africa.
